Really Random Relics

It all started with a coffee table. The challenge was to find a coffee table that would fit a particular sofa, be able to be pushed back around the hearth and be strong enough for people to dance on!

Of course the easiest thing to do was to make it myself, this is how Really Random Relics began. I commissioned a local artist to come up with the logo, which is based on the local Maunsell Forts off the coast of Whitstable, Kent. Each piece created is branded with the three RRR’s.

I felt it important that RRR have an ethos that echoed my reflections on life. All things that were produced to be not only beautiful, but created in collaboration with the client, the materials and me. I wanted to build various things mainly wood based, unique to each piece and customer request. It was also important to me to use responsibly sourced wood, British products and repurposed materials in the construction of products.

I also wanted to involve the customer in the creative process. What this means in practice is, just like that very first coffee table, I listen to what the initial ideas are, then explore the possibilities and go from there. So from the smallest items such as the heart shaped plug float, to the larger kitchen units and all others between, each item is made just for you.
